Bitaxe Gamma Hex vs NerdOCTaxe Gamma
The two biggest open-source BM1370 boards: six chips in the Gamma Hex (sold with a liquid cooler) versus eight in the NerdOCTaxe, with similar efficiency, so it mostly comes down to price, cooling and noise.
The numbers, in plain words
- Price: the cheapest in-stock NerdOCTaxe Gamma is $424.99 (Bitcoin Merch), $25.00 less than the cheapest in-stock Bitaxe Gamma Hex at $449.99 (Bitcoin Merch).
- Hashrate: NerdOCTaxe Gamma states ≈9.6 TH/s versus ≈8.4 TH/s for Bitaxe Gamma Hex (1.1× the hashrate on paper).
- Efficiency: Bitaxe Gamma Hex ≈16.7 J/TH, NerdOCTaxe Gamma ≈16.7 J/TH: effectively the same (lower is better).
- Price per TH/s: Bitaxe Gamma Hex $53.57, NerdOCTaxe Gamma $44.27 at their cheapest in-stock prices; the NerdOCTaxe Gamma is the better value per stated TH/s.
- Running cost: about $184 a year for the Bitaxe Gamma Hex versus $210 for the NerdOCTaxe Gamma at an assumed $0.15/kWh, running 24/7.
Hashrate and power are seller-stated. More hashrate raises your lottery odds, but they stay tiny either way.

Which one fits you?
Pick the Bitaxe Gamma Hex if you want liquid cooling for a quieter room and a big hashrate jump over a single Gamma.
Pick the NerdOCTaxe Gamma if you want the most stated hashrate in an open-source home miner and have airflow for about 160 W of heat.
Neither is an income source: solo mining is a lottery.
